ERK Started & Finished GSPs

At Eagle Ranch Kennels, our German Shorthaired Pointers are bred, trained, and developed with purpose. The adult dogs available on this page are either started or finished, meaning they have received varying levels of professional training.

started dog will have a solid foundation in obedience, basic fieldwork, and early exposure to birds and gunfire—making them ideal for owners who want to finish a dog themselves. A finished dog is fully trained and ready to hunt, with advanced obedience, reliable field performance, steady to flush, and polished retrieving skills.

Each dog listed below includes specific details about their training level, hunting experience, and what to expect in the field and at home.

  • Bloodlines – Max comes from bloodlines loaded with Master Hunters, Field Champions, NSTRA Champions, and NAVHDA Prized dogs. Very well bred in terms of proven versatile hunting performance.
  • Physical Appearance – Max is going to be a big dog. He is already 58 pounds at 11 months so we expect him to be 70 pounds. He has a lot of liver patching and not as much ticking as some others but overall, a great looking dog.
  • Hunting – Max is a natural. He got a little bit of a late start with training but has shown us a lot in a short period of time. Max is a medium range hunter that naturally quarters fields, works hedge rows and fence lines, and other structures that would hold birds. Very solid point with a lot of steadiness prior to flush. Overall, we love him as a hunter and believe he has a lot of upside.
  • Companionship – Max has a nice personality. Very friendly to everyone and still very much a puppy. Loves to play with the other dogs. Overall, he is pretty easy going and doesn’t let too much bother him.
